Question of the Week
A couple of weeks ago, I was paging through a back issue of
Sight & Sound, and I was reading the article on
Lost in Translation; in a sidebar to that article, the author linked
Lost in Translation to Tsai Ming-liang's
What Time Is It There?. Something in my mind clicked; even though the films are outwardly very different, it struck me what a proper match the two films really are in terms of theme and mood. That article has inspired the new "Question of the Week."
Name two films which are at least outwardly different, but on further reflection have a connection which would lead you to call the films "companion pieces." Why? Suggestions include style, subject matter, theme, or mood.
Feel free to answer as many times as you want. Given the nature of this question, films can be used multiple times. As always, this question is open to all blog members and readers.
Note to All: The Milk Plus Canon Poll will continue in a few weeks with years 1985-89. Start thinking of your list now.
