is mostly pretty terrible save 3 or 4 really funny gags. The big problem with the film is what could have been. Michael Caine is funny but given nothing to do. Beyonce is gorgeous and okay (a little stiff) in her blaxploitation role but this is where the film really pusses out. While Austin spent the first two films basically trying to bed Liz Hurley and Heather Graham any time he could, for some reason he does not have the inclination to go after our favorite child of destiny at all. Does he not see those abs? Or that beautiful mocha skin? Maybe the latter is just the problem. Wouldn't it have been funny if the strong black woman of the '70's had the sexual aggression to turn Austin into a lamb? A missed opportunity at least and bald fear of miscegenation at worst. The film is structurally such a mess that the lack of form is almost distracting, you find yourself sitting there wondering whether they are just filming everyone in makeup and waiting for something to happen. As I mentioned, the film does score big a couple times (one comes during the opening credits from the best use of cameos in a long time), but all in all it just felt like Myers wasn't trying very hard. He is such a talented guy (I loved the original, and Wayne's World
) it is frustrating to see him miss so many opportunities.
