Took a break from watching
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 2, and went to
The Bourne Identity, a solid, entertaining, well-crafted espionage thriller, that, like
About a Boy is kind of a flip back to a more classical era (well kinda, sorta), especially in this era of Jerry Bruckheimer (Scott Tobias’s summation of the current state of Summer action cinema in
The Onion is spot on). It’s well acted, suspenseful, intelligent, and funny, a real-crowd pleaser. Whatever one may think of Matt Damon as an actor (and I happen to like him), he is adept at choosing interesting projects (some of which may not turn out well) unlike, say, his compatriot, Ben Affleck, whose record is much more spotty in my opinion. I wish more big name actors where as choosy as Damon and Tom Cruise. Well, I’d probably have more to say, but it’s time to start getting back to Buffy....
